Home Sweet Home Exhibition, Ekenas/ Tammisaari, Finland...

Later today I'm heading to Finland for the opening of the Home Sweet Home exhibition, organized by the Pro Artibus Foundation. We're scheduled to exhibit three pieces, the Cu3o Cabinet, the Bowls Interrupted, and some Laser Toast (probably the best laser-toasted PB&J sandwich in the world)...

The exhibition opens on May 25, and runs until October 7, 2012... If you happen to be in the hood, please stop by...

Cu3o Cabinet...

Originally designed and modeled over twenty years ago in New York during my time at Parsons, it was prototyped in London at full-scale during my final year at the AA, and eventually built into its (for now) final form the other month here in Doha...

The Cu3o Cabinet consists of a set of proportionally synchronized wooden boxes with industrial strength Velcro on its top and bottom (and some select interior) surfaces. This allows it to be assembled into a variety of, often surprisingly 'just wrong' looking, compositions...

The design will have its commencement exhibition at the upcoming Home Sweet Home Exhibition in Finland's Ekenas (the 'a' should have two dots on top), or Tammisaari in Finnish, organized by Pro Artibus. The exhibition has been curated by Mikael Nygard, and will be on display from May 25 to October 7, 2012...

Package Furniture...

A short while back our exhibits from the Design Days Dubai were finally returned. Interestingly, the packages in which some of the pieces were wrapped were worthy designs in their own right. And with all their buffering packaging they were surprisingly comfortable...

The pieces shown here were designed by Constantin and Lauren Boym...

The Barcelona Pavilion in Detail - Barcelona, Catalonia...

A few additional, my five pence worth, of photos to the myriad of images that are daily taken of Mies' Barcelona Pavilion. Here I tried to emphasize some of the details and detailing of the pavilion, and document views that are not usually featured in most related publications...
