Design Details No. 9 - Monocle Packaging...

A few days back I received a pack of CDs ordered from Monocle Magazine's web-shop. The parcel arrived promptly, but beyond that, the package itself was, in my mind, truly beautiful... The CD's were inside an envelope made of, almost card thick, semi-glossy, satin-finish, paper with a Japanese-esque pattern. The top of the rectangular bag was folded over and secured with a bespoke sticker-seal, which one opened by simple finger flick below the seal.

As a package, and considering its content, the envelope transcended into the realm of an artifact with its own particular presence, weight and charm... The act of opening the envelope eclipsed into a small, ascetic, mini-ceremony of its own...

Sweet...
