Totes...

During our annual trip to Finland we picked up a number of canvas totes at various retail outlets. Retailing for 1 Euro each (about 0.4 KD), and in a country where, to encourage recycling, a plastic bag costs 20 cents, they offer a great alternative way for 'toting' around daily purchases. They're also very practical, a good size and robust enough to accommodate anything from a laptop to overnight clothing. There has been a marked difference in the amount of plastic waste by the wayside since the fees and their more permanent replacements were introduced. Sometimes the smallest and simplest of ideas that can make the biggest difference.

There are a few places that sell similar totes in Kuwait. One is the Dar Al Athar Al-Islamiyya, which sells them for 3 KD, another place is the I Love Souk store at the Al Sabah art & Design Gallery by the Al Corniche Club, where they are a bit pricier...

Who knows, perhaps collecting these tote-bags become the new accessory to be seen with, overtaking from the trend of collecting obscure t-shirts from a few years back?
