A short while back I had the opportunity to fly on a Turkish Airlines flight. Whilst somewhat underwhelmed by the flight itself (cramped seats, weathered interiors, short-staffed and somewhat chaotic service), the food was decent and I really liked the look of their sick-bags, with their egg-shell color tone which is subtly highlighted by the white sealing-wires attached at the top. The black serif font also adds a nice 'softness' to the composition. On future flights if I had a choice regarding what kind of bag I'd like to get sick in, this one would be at the top of my list...
the designers of this bag had the foresight to create an eggshell bag to complement the color of sick, a condition they foresaw would most likely be the scenario of any passenger traveling on this airline, induced BY the airline. it's all planned, tom.
ReplyDeleteHere is a collection of different designs by Pan Am http://www.everythingpanam.com/Air_Sick_Bags.html
ReplyDeleteAnd apparently this guy is obsessed by them. Do you think they are used? http://www.flickr.com/search/?q=Airsickness&w=42285245%40N00
Hi Amos,
ReplyDeleteThat's quite an impressive collection, fit for the most rambunctious Roman orgy... It would be interesting if they had been used, and then stored... A small gustatory reminder of flights past...
Tom
I think that's actually very thoughtful of them Ghadah...
ReplyDeletePerhaps if they also pumped in the fragrance of sick (designer-sick) before the flight commenced, any 'discharges' performed during the flight would just blend in..?!
