The New York Times Style Magazine - T Qatar Features the VCUQ Graduate Program...

The latest issue of the New York Times Style Magazine - T Qatar has a three page piece on the VCUQ graduate program... Perhaps the piece remains a bit vague ('vague-vague', not 'focus-vague', as in us being 'intentionally vague', or 'empirically vague', as our program outline states). But, as my colleague Mike Wirtz states, its publicity, which in the end is a good thing... Cheers NYTSM-Q...

Design Details No. 17 - Palm Leaf Broom...

I initially came across the, quite ingenious, use of palm leaves as brooms in Nizwa, Oman, a bit 'off the radar' location where the use of such adapted tools didn't necessarily seem too out of place. Subsequently, however, I also saw one being used in Manama, a more urban setting, a few months back. It does, indeed, seem to be an universally appropriate means for sweeping that in many ways is more versatile and adaptable than a manufactured broom. The included short video, a somewhat openly-covert attempt to film the gentlemen sweeping without making them excessively self-conscious about my doings, was taken in Nizwa in the Spring of 2010...

3D Printed Bespoke Name Hairbrush...

A few quick images of a design made already a few years back of a 3D Printed (FDM) hairbrush where the bristles spell out a name (in this case my nickname 'Tomi')... The back of the brush has my last name in raised relief letters. As I have the whole alphabet in 'bristle' letters within my CAD file, any name (within reason) can be created and 3D printed.

Textural Details from the La Fontaine Centre of Contemporary Art, Bahrain...

A few photos taken a few years back of the La Fontaine Centre of Contemporary Art in Manama, visually dwelling on some of the wonderful, saturated, textures and details of the place, which apparently used to be a walled date-farm, located smack-middle of downtown Manama...

For some images from a recent photographic exhibition we held there click here, here, here, and here...
